FIE NGO promotes women's rights and gender equality, promotes public policies in the field, works for socioeconomic empowerment and fights against violence and discrimination against women.

When starting the FIE NGO, Centro de Fomento a Iniciativas Económicas in 1985, none of the five founders thought that our idea could last that long. At the beginning, it was enough for us to demonstrate that "giving credit to people that traditional banks did not serve because they were "poor", "of indigenous origin" and/or "women" was a necessary service for the majority of the population in Bolivia, and that only adjusting the way of doing it to their particular conditions and situation, there would be no reason to doubt that the credits would be recovered.

At FIE NGO we promote economic rights to encourage all people to have access to goods, opportunities, and services necessary to survive and prosper.
